Volcano, Hawaii Weather & Hawai‘i Volcanoes National Park Area Conditions

Kilauea Lodge is located just outside of Hawai‘i Volcanoes National Park at Volcano Village.  Due to the 3000-4000 foot elevation, Volcano, Hawaii weather and most of Volcanoes National Park enjoy a cooler climate – 12 to 15 degrees cooler than at sea level. The coastal plain at the end of Chain of Craters Road is often hot, dry, and windy with the possibility of passing showers.

Island weather can be unpredictable and you should be prepared for rain and sun. Wearing layers of clothing is always your best bet.

We hope this tool will help you to gauge the days weather and plan accordingly but remember – if you don’t like the weather in Hawai’i, wait a few minutes and it will change!
